Web Summit is one of the largest tech conferences on the planet and the trendsetters of the internet and tech industry with the major Key Opinion Leaders hitting their stage every year to shape the future of tech, IT, and the internet has just been boycotted by tech giants and blue chips who used to be their biggest sponsors and participants, such as IBM, Siemens, Meta, and Google.
After years of praising the Web Summit and its role in the tech and VC industry, the same preachers and praisers turned against it due to its founder’s tweet and social media posts commenting on the Hamas - Israel conflict and accusing him of being a Pro-Hamas.
This hypocrisy as described by the DSRPTD.net host, of tech giants and VC funds boycotting Web Summit for the personal opinion of the founder just goes against freedom of speech and the concept of the web-internet in the first place. These big corporations should not mix political views and personal opinions with business and investment.
“This is not the strategy you adopt when you are against someone’s views, especially by such very high-end global profile people such as the ones who tweeted and posted against Web Summit and its founder. They are just drawing attention and doing free marketing and propaganda for them and him personally as well, and doing him a favor by being a patriot in the eyes of those who have similar views as he does. I wonder if they ever studied strategy or know about it at all.” Ahmed Refaie, DSRPTD.net Founder and host commented in a sarcastic way.
“Childish reactions without thinking” the DSRPTD.net host described the Web Summit boycott of the tech companies and investors.
From their side, DSRPTD.net stands with Web Summit and supports them, and willing to pull off any efforts they can to fill any gaps, support, and assist with Web Summit as of an email sent to Web Summit stating their full willingness to provide full-fledged help and support to the world’s most famous tech summit. Recognizing their role in the tech startup and the VC world.
DSRPTD.net host stated that he will be flying to Lisbon to attend Web Summit in an unprecedented move to be there on the ground and that he couldn’t be happier to be at Web Summit this year.
